Great to see this forum. I am a long time df rider who lost interest until lately when the idea of a tadpole trike with motor got me exited again. Last winter I purchased a Catrike Expedition, and after lots of research on line ordered the first Ecospeed mid-drive kit for a catrike, and 20AH 36V ping LiFePO4 battery. I wanted to learn EV tech by getting my hands dirty and also letting my stink-mobile sit in the driveway more often. Vancouver has a strong EV community, and I have been enjoying the monthly "Kilowatt Hour" ride. In good weather we usually have six to twelve e-bikers out for an evening ride through downtown Vancouver to the beach or some other interesting spot.

Best,

Dave E

Hello Ed . . .

I'm just new to this electric assist idea on my recumbent. The old legs just don't have the power they used to.

You mention the EcoSpeed set up on your tryke. I visited thier site last night looking to see what they have foa Sun Easy Sport.
What's your experience been with them? Good reliable product with good support?

I don't imagine I'd have any trouble installing the system on the bike, I'm more concerned about the durability of
the components. Any comments you'd be willing to share about your expereience with them would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks . . . .

Hi Bent, I have had a good experience with Ecospeed. Quality is very nice, and service has been good. I know another fellow who has put thousands of km on his Ecospeed, he rides to work every day, and it is still going strong. He has a Nuvinci hub transmission, and I think that is the way to go. The motor dose put strain on the rear derailleur and gears, and if it is not shifting exactly right you can run into problems with thrown or broken chains. It is much better than a hub motor especially for climbing hills.

Hope that helps,

Edavee
